“What does God expect from me?”

I often think too much and complicate matters, that can be dealt with so much simpler. This is one of those times. God simply expects Christians to love and follow Jesus, and to love our neighbors.  Following Christ means to extend grace and mercy to others freely, and walk humbly with God, seeking to know Him more (studying the scriptures) so that we can become more like Christ. There are three scriptures that I reflect on to keep myself on track.

Micah 6:8  “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God”

2 Corinthians 5:17  “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”

Galatians 2:20 NKJV  For “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me”

In a nutshell:

Be kind and fair: Treat others the way you’d want to be treated. Offer kindness and assistance all but especially to the poor or less fortunate.

Seek God’s guidance:  Pray about everything and ask yourself “Will this glorify God?” or “If others see this, will they see the Christ in me?”

Make time for Jesus: Dedicate time for studying the scriptures to further develop your relationship with Christ. Visit a local bible study or join a small group at Church

Accept and offer His grace: You received forgiveness for your sins and salvation through believing in the resurrected Jesus Christ. Readily extend that forgiveness to others.

Practice goodness:  We are all sinners saved by grace, so don’t be too hard on yourself. We all have bad habits and negative attitudes that we need to break free of. When you fall short (and you will) ask God to forgive you and help you in that area of weakness. God is faithful to forgive us as we continue our Christian walk.

Christian Fellowship: The scriptures says that believers should meet together to foster unity and encourage one another in love. You can meet and develop relationships with believers at a local church or an online church. It’s important to have spiritual support and encouragement with other believers. Remember “iron sharpens iron”

We have each been uniquely made and purposed for the kingdom of God. The more you learn about Him, the closer your relationship becomes. It’s wonderful knowing that the creator of ALL things loves me!

Here’s a prayer that I would like to share with you:

Bless us with your Spirit, Lord our God, that we may discern your good, acceptable, and perfect will. Give us joy in fighting on your side, so that what is good, acceptable, and perfect may be given to the world. Wherever we are and whatever work we do, give us zeal to serve you and be guided by you so that your will may be done and your kingdom come, so that already today we may find happiness even though only in hope. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray, Amen.

If you got something out of today’s post, please share it with others so we all continue to grow!

Please let me know how this works for you or if you have any special prayer requests.
